The Chronicles of Fine

A comprehensive catalog—a compendium if you will—of the adventures, trials, and coup's that lead to the origin of FINE. (The memoirs)

Devious - Sargeras Alliance

Betty was an officer in a daytime raiding guild called Devious during the Legion expansion.

One day, a couple called Fox and Starby applied to join. They raided for a few weeks, then we decided to no longer raid with them.

They then left the guild and went off to create their own, named Velocity.

Betty quit WoW after the 2nd raid tier…to later come back to the game in the Battle for Azeroth expansion and apply to a guild called… Velocity

Life Below Zero - Sargeras Alliance

After 6 years spent in AFK Land, Vers returned to Azeroth just weeks before the release of Antorus, The Burning Throne. Having no friends to return to, he joined the first Morning Raiding Guild he could find—Life Below Zero, an Alliance Guild on Sargeras. There, the Guild Master Paleryder took him under his wing and they spent the majority of their days chatting away in Discord, while running laps in Dalaran.

As Battle for Azeroth approached, Paleryder let the guild know that he would not be able to continue to raid lead as his family was taking away his time from the game. Jyces, Vers, Foxicopter and other officers tried to keep the guild raiding, but without their fearless leader, Life Below Zero fell to a lowly casual Guild.

It was at this time that five members of the guild (Foxicopter, Vers, Lukx, Mizunoko, and Moozeta) decided to head in their own new direction and joined another daytime raiding guild —Velocity—to continue their character progression.

Velocity - Sargeras Alliance

Vers and Betty first met each other as raiders in the Velocity guild, led by Foxshine and Starby. We raided through the entire mythic tier of Battle of Dazar’alor, reaching Mythic Jaina progression with the guild.

During Mythic Jaina progression, the guild started to feel that the leadership was a little lacking. Tensions were high as more and more raiders felt that the officers were not organized enough for us to achieve our goal of cutting edge. So, everyone decided to form a new guild and leave Foxshine and Starby behind.

Swell - Sargeras Alliance

With a new GM (Khava), Vers and Betty were made new officers, and we reformed the guild under the name Swell, without the former Velocity leaders and continued to progress Mythic Jaina as a team. Around the time we were very close to our CE kill, Foxshine and Starby sold our mythic lockout to another guild, and we lost it—unable to reclear the raid again to get a new Jaina lockout.

This hurt. Being so close to CE and having fought to get all that way, just to have the rug pulled out from under us out of spite, felt pretty awful. But it’s just a game, so life went on. Except for Menel. He was never seen again.

The new raid tier, Eternal Palace, came out, and we started fresh as a stronger guild. We progressed pretty well compared to other daytime guilds, managing to kill Mythic Ashvane (a notably difficult mythic boss at the time, that few guilds were able to kill).

Our mythic Ashvane kill attracted the attention of a fellow daytime guild, Constant Insanity, whose GM (Kalanee) asked about merging her guild in with Swell. We decided it was a good idea, and we added several new players who are still with us today. (Vondem, Zeek, Tilar, Komo, Zox, Pepe, and Deform).

With Kalanee as an additional officer in Swell, we managed to achieve Cutting Edge in Eternal Palace without too much difficulty—and far less drama than the previous tier.

The following tier, Ny’alotha, we started strong once again. Adding Jeef to the officer roster as our raid leader alongside Betty. We achieved cutting edge faster than we ever had before. But not without some difficulties behind the scenes.

Swell’s GM, Khava, was more of a hands off leader who left the organization and decision making to the other officers—mainly Vers and Betty. This ended up leaving most of the guild seeing the GM as less of a respected person in the guild, which did not help her when she decided to kick Betty from the guild one week after getting CE in Ny’alotha.

Vers gathered the raiders and told them we were creating a new guild with more solid leadership, leaving Khava behind.

We created Fine.

Fine - Sargeras Alliance

Fine was started with almost every member of Swell, with a few exceptions. We started raiding again immediately following the week of drama after our CE kill, and got a second Mythic N’Zoth straight away. We continued killing, and selling, mythic raid runs until the end of that tier.

Fine - Area-52 Horde

By the end of the Battle for Azeroth expansion, the Alliance side of the game had become a graveyard, so we decided to move the guild to Horde for the next expansion, Shadowlands.

We created Fine on Area-52 and have been here ever since. We achieved CE Castle Nathria and Sepulcher of the First Ones. Sadly we decided to cut our raiding short during Sanctum of Domination, and took a break without doing any progression on Mythic Sylvanus. No big deal, everyone came back for the final tier of the expansion.

Nowadays, we enjoy a drama-free guild that tries its best to play the game with like-minded people. But we were never friends.

We can’t wait for Dragon Flight.
